Nehama the Louse

quote

"In the morning, when Nehama went to school with Uri,
She jumped to Michael and from him to Dan.
From head to head she traveled and sped
Because she was curious, always forging ahead.”

Artist Israela Hargil built an installation of gigantic sculptures inspired by Nehama the Louse, written by Meir Shalev. The installation consists of two enormous heads – one bald and the other with hair – that serve as the habitat for different lice, including Nehama, the heroine of the story. Between the two heads there is a grouping of “springy lice” for children to play on. The sculpture is located in the Story Garden Compound on Motta Gur Street, designed by landscape architect Bruce Levin.
