Landscape architect Bruce Levin and AA Patterns and Presentations Ltd. have joined forces to create the historical Security Route Park, which incorporates a unique local aspect of the nation’s history.
Derech Habitahon – the Security Route – was a road paved at the outbreak of the 1948 War of Independence, to connect Tel Aviv with other parts of the country, bypassing hostile towns and villages.
The park contains small-scale models as well as remnants of the original route by which, in 1948, supply convoys would make their way from Tel Aviv to the besieged city of Jerusalem and the different parts of the Negev Desert. The park also features signs and maps that provide information about the period. The park is located on Rafael Eitan Street.
