Representatives from the Holon municipality have returned from a conference on cooperation between France and Israel. The conference, which was sponsored by the Federation of Local Authorities in Israel, the regional council of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, CUF (Cités unies France), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took place in Lyon in the presence of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes council leader Laurent Wauquiez and Israel’s ambassador to France, Aliza Bin-Noun. Representing Holon at the conference were Acting Mayor Zohar Neumark, Deputy Mayor Ilan Gazit, and Acting Foreign Relations Director Shiran Jacoby, who met with Jean-Louis Testud, Deputy Mayor of Suresnes (one of Holon’s twin cities) and discussed further collaboration.
The purpose of the conference was to preserve and strengthen the relationship between Israel and France, to hold think tank discussions on various subjects, to learn from one another’s experience, and to introduce the French participants to the Mayors’ Coalition Against Hatred and Anti-Semitism, sponsored by the Federation of Local Authorities.
The residents of Holon will benefit from the relationship between the cities through new technologies that will make their day-to-day lives easier, as well as educational collaborations between teenagers and students of both countries, and delegation exchanges, in order to increase knowledge in the fields of sports and the economy.
