Recently the principals of secondary schools in Holon took part in a two day seminar conducted by the Trump Foundation, which was held at Havat Allenby, at the entrance to Kibbutz Netzer Sereni.
The Trump Program began operating in Holon in the current academic year, and next year it will intensify its activity in the city’s secondary schools. The purpose of the program is to help the Israeli education system to halt the decline in excellence in mathematics and science in secondary schools, and to bring about a significant improvement, with the intention of encouraging Israel to close the gap between its educational achievements and those of other countries, and to give itself a better start as the second quarter of the 21st century approaches. With this in mind, the Foundation decided to invest in the professional infrastructure – teachers and teaching, based on an understanding that excellent teachers are the ones who can bring about the desired change.
In its strategic outline, the Trump Foundation shares the approach of the Holon Municipality Education Administration, and seeks to foster and integrate widely accessible high quality teaching. For this purpose it sees the school principals as educational leaders, who will spearhead the change and the assimilation of values of excellence.
In the course of the successful seminar, the principals met with the program’s director, Uri/Eli Hurvitz, and listened to professional lectures from Dr. Shimon Azoulay and Dr. Yossy Machluf, in which they learned about innovative research in the field of achievements, with data from Israel and from around the world.
