As part of the cooperation and friendship between Holon and its new twin city – Dongguan in China, the Holon Municipality, with the assistance of the Israeli Foreign Ministry and Israel's Consul General in Guangzhou, Peleg Levy, donated swings (symbolizing Holon, the City of Children) and olive trees (a symbol of peace and brotherhood between the countries) to Dongguan. The swings were set up and the trees were planted last week in the Dongguan Botanical Garden, in an event covered by the local Chinese press.

Dongguan was not to be outdone and sent Holon a shipment of 50 thousand disposable face masks, as a donation to the residents of Holon (including the transportation cost). This generous gift arrived in Holon a few days ago and the masks will be handed over to the Welfare and Social Services Administration for distribution to those in need. The Mayor of Holon, Moti Sasson, who brokered the initiative, sent the residents of Dongguan a photographed message of thanks.

Dongguan is the fourth largest city in China with over eight million inhabitants, and is located in the east of the Republic. Holon and Dongguan signed a twin cities alliance last year, when a Chinese delegation led by Dongguan's mayor, Xiao Yafei, came to Holon for the signing ceremony. In the context of the alliance, friendly relations are expected to develop between the residents and business owners of the two cities, in economics, trade, science and technology, and will also be reflected in future exchanges of delegations.
