The Freak Show was a way of entertainment in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century throughout Britain and America. These shows were part of travelling fairs and circuses, in which unusual humans and animals were shown.
The so-called "freaks" were often disabled, or people of colour. Their suffering offered enjoyable nights-out for the crowds who gathered to come and watch them.
Ceramic artist Lior Kesem Hamama dedicates this exhibition to the "Freak Show". The exhibition takes place in The Farm Gallery (Hachava) Holon.
The artist is influenced by Director Tim Burton, who is well-known from films such as Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Beetlejuice and Batman. Her artcrafts also show goth and darkness.
Hamama reflects the pain and feelings of the characters, who unfortunately were referred to as outcasts and freaks due to various disabilities, or just becuase they were differnet from the norms.
